[The Lord’s Covenant With Abram] After this, the Word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” Then the Word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.”
Those officials of Pharaoh who feared the Word of the Lord hurried to bring their slaves and their livestock inside.
Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the Words of the Covenant—the Ten Commandments.
So Moses counted them, as he was commanded by the Word of the Lord.
Moses gave the redemption money to Aaron and his sons, as he was commanded by the Word of the Lord.
Because they have despised the Lord’s Word and broken His commands, they must surely be cut off; their guilt remains on them.’”
(At that time I stood between the Lord and you to declare to you the Word of the Lord, because you were afraid of the fire and did not go up the mountain.) And he said:
He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with Manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every Word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
Joshua said to the Israelites, “Come here and listen to the Words of the Lord your God."
[The Lord Calls Samuel] The boy Samuel ministered before the Lord under Eli. In those days the Word of the Lord was rare; there were not many visions. Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord: The Word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him.
Samuel told all the Words of the Lord to the people who were asking him for a king.
Then the Word of the Lord came to Samuel:
For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the Word of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.”
But Samuel said to him (Saul), “I will not go back with you. You have rejected the Word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you as king over Israel!”
But that night the Word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying:
Why did you despise the Word of the Lord by doing what is evil in His eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.
“And now your servant says, ‘May the Word of my Lord the king secure my inheritance, for my Lord the King is like an angel of God in discerning good and evil. May the Lord your God be with you.’”
“The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me; His Word was on my tongue.
Before David got up the next morning, the Word of the Lord had come to Gad the prophet, David’s seer:
So Solomon removed Abiathar from the priesthood of the Lord, fulfilling the Word the Lord had spoken at Shiloh about the house of Eli.
The word of the Lord came to Solomon:
“Praise be to the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel just as he promised. Not one Word has failed of all the good promises He gave through His servant Moses.
So the king did not listen to the people, for this turn of events was from the Lord, to fulfill the Word the Lord had spoken to Jeroboam son of Nebat through Ahijah the Shilonite.
‘This is what the Lord says: Do not go up to fight against your brothers, the Israelites. Go home, every one of you, for this is my doing.’” So they obeyed the Word of the Lord and went home again, as the Lord had ordered.
[The Man of God From Judah] By the Word of the Lord a man of God came from Judah to Bethel, as Jeroboam was standing by the altar to make an offering.
By the Word of the Lord he cried out against the altar: “Altar, altar! This is what the Lord says: ‘A son named Josiah will be born to the house of David. On you, he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who make offerings here, and human bones will be burned on you.’”
Also, the altar was split apart and its ashes poured out according to the sign given by the man of God by the Word of the Lord.
For I was commanded by the Word of the Lord: ‘You must not eat bread or drink water or return by the way you came.’”
I have been told by the Word of the Lord: ‘You must not eat bread or drink water there or return by the way you came.’”
The old prophet answered, “I too am a prophet, as you are. And an angel said to me by the Word of the Lord: ‘Bring him back with you to your house so that he may eat bread and drink water.’” (But he was lying to him.)
While they were sitting at the table, the Word of the Lord came to the old prophet who had brought him back. He cried out to the man of God who had come from Judah, “This is what the Lord says: ‘You have defied the Word of the Lord and have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you.
When the prophet who had brought him back from his journey heard of it, he said, “It is the man of God who defied the Word of the Lord. The Lord has given him over to the lion, which has mauled him and killed him, as the Word of the Lord had warned him.”
"For the message he declared by the Word of the Lord against the altar in Bethel and against all the shrines on the high places in the towns of Samaria will certainly come true.”
As soon as he began to reign, he killed Jeroboam’s whole family. He did not leave Jeroboam anyone that breathed, but destroyed them all, according to the Word of the Lord given through his servant Ahijah the Shilonite.
Then the Word of the Lord came to Jehu, son of Hanani, concerning Baasha:
Moreover, the word of the Lord came through the prophet Jehu son of Hanani to Baasha and his house, because of all the evil he had done in the eyes of the Lord, arousing his anger by the things he did, becoming like the house of Jeroboam—and also because he destroyed it.
So Zimri destroyed the whole family of Baasha, in accordance with the Word of the Lord spoken against Baasha through the prophet Jehu—
In Ahab’s time, Hiel of Bethel rebuilt Jericho. He laid its foundations at the cost of his firstborn son Abiram, and he set up its gates at the cost of his youngest son Segub, in accordance with the Word of the Lord spoken by Joshua son of Nun.
[Elijah Fed by Ravens] Then the Word of the Lord came to Elijah:
Then the Word of the Lord came to him:
For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the Word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.
Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that the Word of the Lord from your mouth is the truth.”
[Elijah and Obadiah] After a long time, in the third year, the Word of the Lord came to Elijah: “Go and present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the land.”
Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the Word of the Lord had come, saying, “Your name shall be Israel.”
There he went into a cave and spent the night. [The Lord Appears to Elijah] And the Word of the Lord came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
[A Prophet Condemns Ahab] By the Word of the Lord, one of the company of the prophets said to his companion, “Strike me with your weapon,” but he refused.
Then the Word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite:
Micaiah continued, “Therefore hear the Word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on His throne with all the multitudes of Heaven standing around him on His right and on His left.
They washed the chariot at a pool in Samaria (where the prostitutes bathed), and the dogs licked up his blood, as the Word of the Lord had declared.
So he died, according to the Word of the Lord that Elijah had spoken.
Jehoshaphat said, “The Word of the Lord is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.
Then he set it before them, and they ate and had some left over, according to the Word of the Lord.
Elisha replied, “Hear the Word of the Lord. This is what the Lord says: About this time tomorrow, a seah of the finest flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria.”
‘Yesterday, I saw the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons, declares the Lord, and I will surely make you pay for it on this plot of ground, declares the Lord.’ Now then, pick him up and throw him on that plot, in accordance with the Word of the Lord.”
They went back and told Jehu, who said, “This is the Word of the Lord that he spoke through his servant Elijah the Tishbite: On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs will devour Jezebel’s flesh.
Know, then, that not a Word the Lord has spoken against the house of Ahab will fail. The Lord has done what He announced through His servant, Elijah.”
When Jehu came to Samaria, he killed all who were left there of Ahab’s family; he destroyed them, according to the Word of the Lord spoken to Elijah.
He was the one who restored the boundaries of Israel from Lebo Hamath to the Dead Sea, in accordance with the Word of the Lord, the God of Israel, spoken through his servant Jonah son of Amittai, the prophet from Gath Hepher.
So the Word of the Lord spoken to Jehu was fulfilled: “Your descendants will sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.”
Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the Word of the Lord came to him:
Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the Word of the Lord:
“The Word of the Lord you have spoken is good,” Hezekiah replied. For he thought, “Will there not be peace and security in my lifetime?”
“Go and inquire of the Lord for me and for the people and for all Judah about what is written in this book that has been found. Great is the Lord’s anger that burns against us because those who have gone before us have not obeyed the Words of this book; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written there concerning us.”
He went up to the temple of the Lord with the people of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the priests and the prophets—all the people from the least to the greatest. He read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant, which had been found in the Temple of the Lord.
The king stood by the pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the Lord—to follow the Lord and keep His commands, statutes and decrees with all his heart and all his soul, thus confirming the words of the covenant written in this book. Then all the people pledged themselves to the covenant.
Then Josiah looked around, and when he saw the tombs that were there on the hillside, he had the bones removed from them and burned on the altar to defile it, in accordance with the Word of the Lord proclaimed by the man of God who foretold these things.
The Lord sent Babylonian, Aramean, Moabite and Ammonite raiders against him to destroy Judah, in accordance with the Word of the Lord proclaimed by his servants, the prophets.
Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord; he did not keep the Word of the Lord and even consulted a medium for guidance,
And the Levites carried the ark of God with the poles on their shoulders, as Moses had commanded in accordance with the Word of the Lord.
So David went up in obedience to the Word that Gad had spoken in the name of the Lord.
And now, Lord, the God of Israel, let your Word that you promised your servant David come true.
So the king did not listen to the people, for this turn of events was from God, to fulfill the Word the Lord had spoken to Jeroboam, son of Nebat, through Ahijah the Shilonite.
But this Word of the Lord came to Shemaiah the man of God:
When the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, this Word of the Lord came to Shemaiah: “Since they have humbled themselves, I will not destroy them but will soon give them deliverance. My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem through Shishak.
Micaiah continued, “Therefore, hear the Word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on His throne with all the multitudes of Heaven standing on His right and on His left.
When they had assembled their fellow Levites and consecrated themselves, they went in to purify the temple of the Lord, as the king had ordered, following the Word of the Lord.
Also in Judah the hand of God was on the people to give them unity of mind to carry out what the king and his officials had ordered, following the Word of the Lord.
“Go and inquire of the Lord for me and for the remnant in Israel and Judah about what is written in this book that has been found. Great is the Lord’s anger that is poured out on us because those who have gone before us have not kept the Word of the Lord; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written in this book.”
He went up to the temple of the Lord with the people of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the priests and the Levites—all the people from the least to the greatest. He read in their hearing all the Words of the Book of the Covenant, which had been found in the temple of the Lord.
The king stood by his pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the Lord—to follow the Lord and keep His commands, statutes and decrees with all his heart and all his soul, and to obey the Words of the covenant written in this book.
He did evil in the eyes of the Lord his God and did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke the Word of the Lord.
But they mocked God’s messengers, despised His words and scoffed at His prophets until the wrath of the Lord was aroused against His people and there was no remedy.
The land enjoyed its sabbath rests; all the time of its desolation it rested, until the seventy years were completed in fulfillment of the Word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah.
In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the Word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and also to put it in writing:
Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and teacher of the Law, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to them all, “This day is holy to the Lord your God. Do not mourn or weep.” For all the people had been weeping as they listened to the Words of the Law.
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore, the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; ...
And the Words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.
As for God, His way is perfect: The Lord’s Word is flawless; He shields all who take refuge in Him.
For the Word of the Lord is right and true; He is faithful in all He does.
In God, whose Word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God. They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, to declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to Your Word.
Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
The unfolding of Your Words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.
For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every Word that comes from the mouth of God.'"
“Therefore everyone who hears these Words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock…"
"And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it."
"For where two or three are gathered in My name, there am I among them.”
"Heaven and Earth will pass away, but My Words will never pass away."
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
"As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: 'A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.'"
And He (Jesus) came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as was His custom, He went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and He stood up to read.
He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the Word of God and obey it.”
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, Who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the Words of eternal life."
"Whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
To the Jews who had believed Him, Jesus said, “If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet: “Lord, who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”
So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common.
After they had further proclaimed the Word of the Lord and testified about Jesus, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many Samaritan villages.
On the next Sabbath, almost the whole city gathered to hear the Word of the Lord.
When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the Word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. The Word of the Lord spread through the whole region.
But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, where they and many others taught and preached the Word of the Lord. Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us go back and visit the believers in all the towns where we preached the Word of the Lord and see how they are doing.”
Then they spoke the Word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house.
This went on for two years, so that all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the Word of the Lord.
In this way, the Word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the Message, and the Message is heard through the Word about Christ.
So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
So Christ Himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the Head, that is, Christ.
Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the Word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.
Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
According to the Lord’s Word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the Word of Truth.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Preach the Word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.
For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, It penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
And have you completely forgotten this Word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son?
Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the Word planted in you, which can save you.
Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what It says.
". . . but the Word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the Word that was preached to you.
Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by It you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
